This Gateway Inspection Guide is designed to assist you should you suspect your MCSS (microclimate sensing system) gateway is experiencing technical issues; or should The Yield Support team request you to conduct a physical check of your gateway hardware. This guide also explains how to perform a gateway reboot, should The Yield Support team advise that a reboot is required.
Gateway Inspection
Step 1: Confirm that the gateway antennas are in position.
As this will generally be an inspection conducted from the ground, you simply need to confirm that both gateway antennas are still in position and are sitting vertically. There should be two antennas visible. One long white antenna approximately 600mm long, and one short black paddle antenna, approximately 300mm long.
Step 2: Check the two black coaxial cables
Check that the two black coaxial cables that run from the antennas down to the gateway box are not damaged in any way. You will likely only be able to inspect the last few metres of cable, before it connects to the gateway.
When standing in front of the gateway enclosure, confirm that there are two black cables connected to the bottom of the enclosure. These are your two antenna connections. Check that they are attached correctly.
Step 3: Check power connection
If there are NO lights visible, check that there is power available at the power point, and the switch is turned on. You can plug in a phone charger or appliance to check if there is power available. If there is no power available at the power point, check the relevant circuit breaker is switched on. Confirm that the “do not switch off" tag is still attached to the cord.
Step 4: Confirm internet connectivity
Many of our gateways now have a 4G modem. If your gateway has a separate modem unit installed, check that the indicators are illuminated.
Reboot
Please only reboot your gateway if specifically requested by The Yield Support team. Once requested, simply turn the gateway off at the power point at the wall, wait 10 seconds, and switch back on.
