Should a node stop reporting data from its sensors (and the antenna is working correctly), this could indicate an issue with the battery.
As the node's battery ages, its voltage may drop and eventually will have insufficient capacity to keep the node powered between charges from the solar panel each day. In this case, The Yield Support team can be contacted to arrange a replacement battery.
Once the battery has arrived, installation is simple and can be completed as follows:
- Open the node tray by turning the thumb tab counter clockwise. Pull down the tray using the small plastic tab towards the rear of the unit. Please refrain from pulling the tray by tugging on the sensor cables or antenna.
- Once the tray is open, switch the small silver power switch to the OFF position.
- You'll see the old battery, a small cylinder held in place in a bracket with 3 cables, black, white and red, connecting to it. Unplug the battery and remove it from the bracket. Replace with the new battery in the same orientation and plug in.
- Ensure that the solar panel is exposed to light as you do this, switch the power back ON, listening for a beep to make sure that the node is powered. Close the node and lock it with the thumb tab.
Once you have replaced the battery, please let the Support team know so they can check the node has come back online.
