The Davis Anemometer 6410 is a precision device designed to accurately measure wind speed and direction. Our comprehensive guide will take you through the step-by-step assembly process and there is a video demonstration below that you can follow along.
-
Unbox and Gather Tools: Start by unboxing your Davis Anemometer 6410 and gathering the necessary tools. You'll need a tape measure, nib nose pliers, a Phillips head screwdriver (preferably a fine one), and crimpers. Also, make sure you have the plug and wind sticker that came with the anemometer. Remove any extra screws, u-bolts, washers, or nuts that are not needed for your installation.
-
Assemble the Anemometer: Take the arm and bracket provided. Notice the slit on the bracket for inserting the cable. Place the pole into the bracket with the cable aligned through the hole. Ensure that the holes on the pole and bracket are lined up. Attach the anemometer to the bracket, making sure the brackets and anemometer are oriented correctly. Tighten the bolt securely using pliers and a screwdriver.
-
Attach the Wind Vane: Locate the wind vane, which goes on the top of the anemometer. Align the circular indent on the wind vane with the corresponding feature on the anemometer. Once aligned, tighten the Allen screw using the small Allen key provided. Make sure the wind vane is securely attached.
-
Install the Wind Cup: Attach the wind cup by aligning it with the designated screw location. Tighten the screw to secure the wind cup in place. Ensure that the wind cup is firmly attached to the anemometer.
-
Cut and Prepare the Cable: Measure and cut the cable to the desired length. A length of 1.1 meters is commonly used, but adjust it according to your needs. Strip the cable ends to expose the wires for connection. Insert the cable into the plug, ensuring the correct orientation. Use crimpers to securely crimp the plug onto the cable. Remove any excess cable.
-
Apply the Wind Sticker: Peel off the backing of the wind sticker. Wrap it around the cable near the plug, similar to using tape. This will serve as a visual indicator for the wind direction.
-
Attach the Anemometer: With the anemometer fully assembled and the cable prepared, it's time to attach it to the mounting bracket or desired location. Follow the instructions provided with your mounting bracket to secure the anemometer in place.
Congratulations! You have successfully assembled your Davis Anemometer 6410. Now you can start using it to measure wind speed and direction. Enjoy your new tool and happy wind tracking!
